Exumas Sailing Guide

Our family just returned from a week sailing the Exumas in the Bahamas. We learned quickly that the Exumas are very different than the BVIs and the Grenadines. The Exumas are truly the wild west of the Bahamas, and we liked it!

Most of the islands between Nassau and Staniel Cay are uninhabited. Don’t go to the Exumas expecting a beach bar hopping experience or WIFI. You will be greatly disappointed.

Do go to the Exumas if you want to experience unbelievable marine life, water clarity and good fishing opportunities.

It is also important to note that the sailing times between anchorages are significantly longer than the BVI’s, and even the Grenadines. Honestly, we would probably rent a power yacht if we went on this trip again.

We sailed with Navtours, and had a great experience with the boat and our crew. The Moorings have since then opened a base in Nassau, and they will offer power catamarans. We have never chartered with the Moorings, so we cannot give them a recommendation. If you decide to sail, Navtours are your guys. Ask for Chef Pierre!

Our Exumas sailing guide will walk you through each place we stopped during our sail from Nassau to Staniel Cay, and what we did at those locations. You know how they say “a picture speaks a thousand words?”  We think a video must speak a million !

Our Exumas sailing video is all you need for building an Exumas sailing itinerary! Watch and take notes!
