The Majestic: Barcelona’s Timeless Luxury Hotel

Majestic Hotel Barcelona

If there were only one luxury hotel that came to mind when thinking of Barcelona, it would be the Majestic Hotel. If you did not already know, just Google it. The Majestic Hotel lands on almost every 5 star and luxury top ten list in Barcelona, and Google won’t mind telling you!

The real question, is whether the Majestic hotel can back it up. We decided to spend our last night in Barcelona to find out.

 LOCATION

The Majestic Hotel resides on the Passeig De Gracia, otherwise known as the the 5th avenue of Barcelona. The Majestic hotel is within walking distance to the Gothic Quarter, the beach, and a metro ride to other attractions in Barcelona.

It is also within a few blocks of the El Palauet, which is where we spent our first two glorious nights in Barcelona.

ROOMS & COST

The Majestic is one of the few hotels in Barcelona that has rooms large enough to accommodate a family. We stayed in a “double executive room,” which had a double bed and a double sofa sleeper.

The room had ample size for our family, and the bathroom was huge! However, I am not a fan of the two twin beds being pushed together to make a double. Let’s just say that I found the “middle” more than once during the night.

Those of you who read my blog regularly, saw and read about the El Palauet hotel. Obviously, the rooms at the El Palauet were much larger and more luxurious than the Majestic. The price was also much larger 🙂 Thus, it is important to note that the Majestic is fairly priced for a five star hotel in Barcelona. The double executive suite costs somewhere in the neighborhood of $400 Euros a night, whereas the El Palauet is more than double that.

Rooftop Pool & Terrace

Hotel Majestic Roof Top Pool

The Majestic hotel rooftop is probably the number one reason people chose this luxury hotel in Barcelona. Why? It’s not the pool, but the view that draw most people here.

Speaking of the pool, it was rather small and chilly. However, the amazing view and drink service more than made up for what the pool lacked. They also offer food service on the rooftop.

The Majestic opened its doors in 1918 and was completely renovated in 2013. It is truly one of Barcelona’s timeless luxury hotels.
