Chic Family Travels has stayed at the Ritz Carlton in New Orleans at least a dozen times and loves this classic New Orleans hotel. The Ritz Carlton New Orleans is located on Canal Street which is off-Bourbon but still within a short walk. Honestly, Canal street is not all that desirable. We wish that the Ritz was located on Royal Street instead Nonetheless, we still love the New Orleans Ritz Carlton!
Upon arrival at the Ritz Carlton in New Orleans, you will immediately be in awe. Even the valet parking garage is fabulous! There is beautiful gas lanterns and friendly valets waiting to wisk you away to check-in and take care of all of your baggage.
Having stayed at the Ritz Carlton in New Orleans several times, Chic Family Travels recommends the club level called the Maison Orleans. The food presentations, service and rooms are fabulous. It is worth the extra money to stay on Club Level. Trust us! It is one of the best club levels we have experienced. The club lounge itself is akin to our rich uncle’s living room and library. It has a beautiful ambience and the food presentations and cocktails will keep you satisfied for most of your meals. The service in the main hotel is also friendly but not very personal. It is a large hotel, and you will not get the same level of personalized service as you will in the Club Level at the New Orleans Ritz Carlton. We have stayed in a regular room and had a nice experience but this review would not be nearly as complimentary had we not experienced the Maison Orleans at the Ritz in New Orleans.
It is easy to never leave the Ritz Carlton Club Lounge, but you MUST go to the main hotel lobby bar to enjoy Jeremy Davenport play the blues. Get there early so you can grab a good seat, and keep your eyes open for the occasional celebrity sighting. We saw Morgan Freeman in the New Orleans bar last time we were there! He of course went to his private dining area at the M Bistro Bar.
Another tip, is to use your American Express Platinum card to book at room at the New Orleans Ritz Carlton. You might receive a room upgrade (although we did not), $100 food credit, and free breakfast in the dining room. The breakfast is worth $50 itself and Chic Family Travels can attest that it is worth every penny! This is not your normal “free continental breakfast,” rather it is a full buffet that includes cooked to order omelets, fresh pastries and anything else you can imagine for breakfast!
Upon departure of the Ritz Carlton New Orleans, you will be left with two bottles of water by the valets in your car. Nice touch, and often needed after a night out in NOLA !
