Waldorf Astoria Orlando Reviews

A review of the Waldorf Astoria at Disney World by Chic Family Travels

We recently took our children to Disney World for….gasp…..the first time ! Honestly, I have never wanted to go to Disney World. Long lines and mediocre hotel rooms just have never appealed to me. Thus, I opted for the Disney Cruise in lieu of the theme parks in the past.

My daughter, Evelyn, turned 10 this September and something came over me. I woke up one morning and realized how quickly time had passed and how my little girl was now a tween. The last ten years seemed like a nano second and I had “NEVER taken my baby to Disney World!” Okay this was admittedly a weak moment for me, but I decided that I was taking my baby who was no longer a baby to Disney World!

Then reality hit. As I searched for a Disney Resort to stay, I was less than impressed with the quality of the resorts for the price they were charging. I mean $500-$600 a night for what looked like an average hotel room? Really? Everyone tried to convince me to stay at a Disney Resort because of the perks like extra magic hours and convenience to the monorail. However, we did not plan on getting up early or staying late, we were on vacation! Plus, we only spent one day at the Magic Kingdom and the rest were at the other parks so the convenience to the monorail had limited value to us.

I am an American Express Platinum member and use their Fine Hotels and Resorts program so I looked up what they had to offer in Orlando. I was pleased to find a Waldorf Astoria that was on Disney Property. It looked stunning and at $239 a night, I was sold! We booked a Disney View room and was upgraded to a lovely suite thanks to using our American Express. If you have more than 2 children, a regular hotel room is just not comfortable. We really enjoyed having the spacious suite with a mini-kitchen and dining area. We ate our breakfast in the room every morning!  Did I mention that our breakfasts were free? The American Express Fine Hotel and Resorts program offers a free room upgrade, free breakfasts, and a $100 resort credit. Not a bad deal, huh? What until you see this resort! Here is my general overview and review of the Waldorf Astoria in Orlando

Waldorf Astoria Orlando Reviews

* Stunning property

* Gorgeous Pool with outdoor pool bar & grill. The pool grill has food that rivals many five star restaurants. Try the seared tuna tacos!

* Access to the Hilton’s pool next door with waterslide and lazy river

* Luxurious Accommodations. Even nicer than many Ritz Carlton’s I have stayed.

* Free Shuttle to all Disney Properties and very reliable.

* Very good quality food choices for adults and children.  Bull and Bear steakhouse is onsite. There are also more casual dining choices in the lobby, pool and Oscars. Also, you can walk next door and dine at the Hilton’s restaurants where kids eat free!

* Golf Course on site (did not use)

* Kids club on site (did not use)
